lights

Natural lighting is always the best setting.  Take your baby's photo near a bright window or patio door or outdoors in a shaded spot, avoid direct sunlight.  Avoid using your camera's flash whenever possible.

camera

Set your digital camera to the highest image or pixel size.  Make sure your baby is in sharp focus.  We cannot correct a blurry or grainy image.  If submitting a hard copy photo, have your photos developed on quality glossy papers.  Textured photographs do not scan well.  Please do not send your only hard copy of your photos.

action

Place your baby on a light colored blanket or sheet.  Avoid bright color or busy patterns.  For a more artistic look, use a black sheet or inexpensive piece of fabric.  Babies in their birthday suit or sleeping babies are always beautiful.
Get down at baby's level and shoot from every angle.  Avoid photographing directly over top baby.
Try to keep in mind the announcement you plan to order, this should help capture the best photos for your baby's announcement.
Remember:  There are a number of announcements that feature square cropping.  For best results, be sure to photograph features tight for square crops.  For example: photograph both feet as close together as possible so both feet are viewable in the square crop.
